This map has a motif of yellow sulfur-like powder piling up in corners of a very vertical industrial setting.<br />

Several pipes around the map use metal textures covered in this same yellow dusty powder.<br />
<br />
This visual style does not appear in any other Air Exchange map present in the 2003 leak, so it seems this design motif was abandoned early on in development.<br />

==Overview==<br />
<b>hub01</b> is an extremely large (and very late in development) wasteland map with some basic gameplay, and even a simple puzzle!<br />
This map largely uses regular source map I/O and is fairly easy to get working mechanically (aside from the driveable APCs which are not functioning in the leak or retail). Compiling it may be a different challenge due to its size.<br />
<br />
===Gameplay Synopsis===<br />
The player starts out in an isolated corner of the map equipped only with a pistol, shotgun, and a jeep.<br />
Driving along the wasteland and avoiding packs of Antlions, the player would eventually encounter a large set of gates with fixed turrets scanning the horizon.<br />
If the player attempts to approach the gate while driving the jeep, the gates will first open then immediately shut, followed by rollermines being spawned.<br />
<br />
At this point, the player would need to drive off in another direction and eventually run into a small outpost with a locked gate.<br />
Next to the outpost is a conveniently-placed hill that can be used as a ramp to jump the wall and crash-land the jeep into a pile of several metal barrels.<br />
<br />
The player then exits the jeep and engages with a few scattered combine soldiers in the outpost.<br />
After dealing with the enemies, the player takes control of an idle APC and drives it out the front door, then back to the "filter gate" from earlier.<br />
<br />
This time, the gate recognizes the APC and allows entry. Upon entering, the combine forces figure out the ruse and begin to attack the player.<br />
The player must exit the APC and fight several soldiers through a small complex. At the end of this complex is a small garage where the player descends via a catwalk and assumes control of yet another APC.<br />
<br />
At this point, the player is free to drive off into the wasteland and run over Antlions as they see fit. The map ends unceremoniously.<br />

As with many of Aaron's early maps, this map is riddled with missing textures and old GoldSRC map I/O usage.<br />
This map largely seems to be a showcase of many [[npc_cremator]]s facing off against headcrabs hiding among piles of junk in the many toxic pits.<br />

==Overview==<br />
===Gameplay Synopsis===<br />
The player would start out in a back alleyway with a limited set of weapons.<br />
Climbing into an early brush combine tower would allow the player to pull a lever and open a gate to the next area.<br />
Here a [[Cremator]] would be patrolling.<br />
<br />
The player would then need to weave through a building and climb into another combine sentry post in order to open another gate.<br />
After passing this gate, the player would enter a simple tunnel system and follow a boarded-off hallway that leads to a collapsed section of the tunnel.<br />
<br />
In the collapsed tunnel, two unique fixed combine defense turrets scan the room. Upon sighting the player, an alarm plays and the turrets begin to open fire.<br />
Manhacks start swarming the tunnel and the player must weave between wrecked cars and vault over the roof of a van in order to reach the exit.<br />
<br />
The player would then exit the tunnels and arrive in an open square where several metropolice and cremators begin an ambush.<br />
After dispatching the ambush, the player continues to open combine gates via the sentry posts until the map simply ends unceremoniously in another back alley.<br />
