Net Test 2 is the second of two known development builds of Half-Life that were sent to playtesters to test the game's multiplayer features. It was leaked on September 20th, 2024 by Chad Jessup.[1][2] This build is labelled "Beta 12" and comes from a fairly late point in the game's development. Net Test 2 was compiled on October 20th, 1998, 4 days after the compilation of Net Test 1 and 30 days before the release of Half-Life.

Models
Within Net Test 2, we got our first look at the early playermodels for four characters, Gordon Freeman, Gina Freeman (later Gina Cross), Helmet & the HGrunt. All four models use brighter, more saturated textures. Additionally, the p_models for the Crossbow and RPG use their earlier designs.
