Assault is a map that seemingly portrays a Military occupied, outdoor series of three connected facilities, possibly owned by the Black Mesa Research Facility.

Landmark Comparisons

Spawn: In the Net Test 1 version of this map, the player spawns on a wooden platform suspended in the air by a metal support beam. A advertisement for Team Fortress 2: Brotherhood of Arms [1] shows the Spy Class climbing a rope over to the Power Generator Room. It's unknown if the Power Generator is still located in that room when it was ported to TF2:BoA. There are a hand-full of differences seen between what's in the Net Test 1 Leak and what's seen in the advertisement, as pictured in the screenshot below.

  • The bridge that the player spawns on appears to be even more broken and shorter in TF2:BoA, making the process to get to the Generator Facility much more difficult.
  • The mountain around this area of the base is not flat in TF2:BoA, instead having more edges and looking even more like an actual cliff-face.
  • The skybox is completely different in TF2:BoA. The Net Test 1 Version uses the skybox that was first seen in the map c2a3c.

Bridge: There is a Bridge in the middle of aa huge canyon with a body of water at the bottom. This bridge area has been seen in screenshots from Valve's Team Fortress that originate from a website called "planetfortress". These screenshots are preserved in the Valve Archive [2] Unlike the Spawn area and the Power Generator, there are only a small number of changes from the Net Test 1 Version, and what's seen in Valve's Team Fortress. What's not seen by any screenshot of VTS is the end of the Bridge where 2 Turrets are placed slight above the ground and behind 2 sandbag barricades. Perhaps 2 Mounted M2 Browining .50-cal machine guns where places here for Valve's team fortress.

  • The Support Beams in the Net Test 1 version Stick out of the left and right hand sides of the bridge, breaking apart the guard rails. those parts that stick out didn't exist in Valve's Team Fortress.
