*When referring to a specific directory, put it within <nowiki><code></code</nowiki> tags. Example: <code>/materials/brick/</code>

*When creating a texture gallery, have the caption of each refer to the original VTF's name in quotations. For example:

<!-- Shamelessly plagiarized from the OICW article-->

<gallery widths="300" orientation="none" spacing="small" bordersize="none" captionposition="below" hideaddbutton="true">

reciever.png|"reciever.vtf"

scope.png|"scope.vtf"

</gallery>

==Page Composition==

VCC Wiki doesn't play exactly by the rules of any format. Rather, it uses a mishmash of good-sounding ideas primarily from the Combine Overwiki and TCRF.

As a result, there is no strict format on constructing articles here. Even if you use one of the formats below, there is still plenty of wiggle room about how you work with them. The <i>best</i> method should be used, not necessarily the most <i>standardized</i> one.

Notice a factual error somewhere? See a formatting issue that nobody seems to have noticed? Try your hand at editing it!
Evolution articles document the "evolution" of various valve-related things that make it to retail, using headings for individual versions. Screenshots and textures are included within each header, as they should be each their own time capsule, moving onward.

====<i>Header Structure</i> ====

There is no strict format, as "evolution of" articles should be approached on a case-by-case basis, based in what we have of it.[[Combine Soldier (Evolution)]] provides a good example of how these can be structured, though.<br />

==="Miscellaneous Aspects"===

What does Miscellaneous Aspects represent?

Essentially, this is a trivia section, where instead of bullet points, individual notable bits get their own heading.<br />

For example, on the [[MP5K (SMG1)]] page, it would refer to the

*<b>Viewmodel Picture Release</b>

*<b>Prior Revisions</b>

On the [[Heavy_Machine_Gun_(HMG1)]] page, it would refer to

* <b>Early Viewmodel</b>

It's based on TCRF's approach to headings, of which a good example can be seen [https://tcrf.net/Team_Fortress_2 here].

Why Not Edit?

Notice a factual error somewhere? See a formatting issue that nobody seems to have noticed? Try your hand at editing it!

A good syntax reference is here. Scroll below for a beginner's guide to wiki editing.

Don't be afraid to edit. It is easier to fix, than to have to build the whole thing. For a more laid-back atmosphere, you can state what you would change in the "Article-ToDo" section at the top of the page.

If you're looking for help or feedback, head on over to our official discord and @ai_relationship_wiki! This way you can talk in real time rather than waiting on the talk page.

Page Philosophy

Let's face it - we're not going to have a universal set of standards for everything, considering our weird and varied subject matter.

When doing something new, don't approach it with a bunch of pre-thought-out header structures in mind. Think to yourself, what would work best? Often, that's the way that gets the best results.

If you don't want to commit, feel free to add it to the article ToDo. These are technically talk pages - we jerry-rigged our talk pages to act as todo pages since we primarily use discord for discussion.
